In the heart of Powys, Garthmyl Hall stands as a testament to timeless elegance. In April, this storied estate played host to a photoshoot that dared to blend the opulence of colour with the enigmatic allure of gothic aesthetics, drawing inspiration from the eccentric beauty of the movie Saltburn (2023). Against this backdrop of grandeur, The Costa Sisters and the creative team transformed four individuals (including yours truly) into muses, embodying the essence of elegance, mystery, and vibrancy.

From the moment the creative team stepped foot onto the grounds of Garthmyl Hall, we were excited by the ethereal beauty that stood in front of us. The morning sun cast a golden glow upon the ornate facades, setting the stage for a day of creativity and exploration. Inspired by the captivating visuals of Saltburn, we set out to infuse the timeless charm of Garthmyl Hall with a modern twist, blending elegant sophistication with vibrant bursts of colour.

Think “noughties girly-glamour sleepover” – us four models, each with our own unique style, became the focal point of this girls-gone-wild narrative. Against the backdrop of Garthmyl Hall’s rich tapestry of history and architectural splendour, we did our best to channel the ethereal campiness and mystique of the Saltburn film.

Clad in flowing gowns kindly gifted to us by @shophaxen, and adorned with intricate lace, tasteful lingerie, and sumptuous fabrics, we worked hard to add depth and spirit to each and every frame.

As the day unfolded, we explored the myriad spaces that Garthmyl Hall had to offer, each one offering its own unique backdrop for Elena and Sofia’s vision. From the grandeur of the honeymoon suite to the intimacy of the basement bar, every corner of the estate became a canvas upon which to paint a story of vibrant goth-like elegance. Against the backdrop of towering windows and ornate chandeliers, the vibrant hues of the outfits came to life, casting a intriguing contrast against the opulent surroundings.

The makeup and hair artistry, masterfully crafted by @dannymarieelias_designer and @rebelrock_hair, accentuated our natural features. Tousled waves mirror the wild and eccentric ways of Saltburn, with subtle hints of glamour that evoke the colours of the disco-esque lifestyle of the Catton family.

Yet, it was the subtle infusion of gothic elements that truly set the tone for the shoot. From dramatic lighting to intricate details reminiscent of another era, every element served to transport us to a world where darkness and light intertwined. Against the backdrop of Garthmyl Hall, the shoot became a celebration of contrasts – where elegance met mystery, and colour met shadow.
