MXCI
@mxci_uk

MXCI is an alternative fashion brand founded by Georgina Verity in 2013. Growing up, she had taken an interest in sewing and was taught by her mum – a maker of wedding dresses. In her final year of university, she created a collection under a brand name, and that’s when MXCI was born. Struggling to find clothes that fit her, she wanted to create alternative clothing, inspired by cult films and music, that were available in any shape or size. I own three pairs of MXCI’s flares, and without a doubt, they’re the most flattering, well fitting flares I’ve ever owned.

Sweet Leaf Jewellery
@sweet_leaf_jewellery

Sweet Leaf is a jewellery brand creating high-end silver pieces inspired by all things rock ‘n’ roll. Their skeleton crew of artists (with backgrounds in graphic design, music production, tattooing, and architecture) came up with the idea at a punk gig in September 2021 after noticing how bands rely on merchandise sale now more than ever, however, rock/punk bands don’t have options for expensive merch outside of vinyl box set releases. By the following Christmas, they had settled on a name and had their first lot of designs ready to launch.
They are now based in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter working alongside legendary jewellery makers. So far, they have collaborated with bands such as GBH and Exploited, with many more to come.

Rumour Mill Custom
@rumourmillcustom

Rumour Mill Custom, founded my Laura Maclean in lockdown, is a fashion art brand that customises leather with incredible hand painted designs. After experimenting with ideas and through sourcing garments that would otherwise head for landfill, Laura used her art degree and upcycled pieces that will be reworn and loved for much more time to come.
She went on to buy, paint and upcycle second-hand and vintage jackets, trying to source a huge range of styles for different vibes and inclusive sizes – as plus size girl herself, she says they are often overlooked by fashion brands. She launched her website in April 2022 and has since expanded to include prints and all types of leathers and footwear as well as custom options.

Beyond Hell Shop
@beyondhellshop

BeyondHell is a rock ‘n’ roll fashion brand founded by Vikee. It was born from a love of old rock / heavy metal music, motorcycle culture, and pretty much anything rebellious during the 60s – 80s.
Vikee began designing artwork inspired by old music posters and decided to open an online art print shop in 2019. At the time of choosing a business name, she was watching a MotΓΆrhead documentary and the words Beyond Hell came out of Lemmyβs mouth, and so it was decided by the god himself.
In 2019. Vikee left her full time job in fashion production to work on her brand full time. As an enthusiast of rock nβ roll fashion and vintage clothing, the direction of the brand naturally steered towards clothing. It then became her mission to make badass people feel even more BADASS through wearing her very own art! All her pieces she designs, prints, and distresses by hand to give them that old and worn rock nβ roll look.
Lucky Roadrunner Silver
@luckyroadrunnersilver

Lucky Roadrunner Silver is unique jewellery brand based in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in December 2019 by Mercedes McCluskey, who, as a stay-at-home mum, picked up the hobby of making jewellery for herself. As she shared it on social media, more and more people took an interest and wanted a piece for themselves. The brand was born, and Mercedes began collecting stones and got into lapidary work so she could cut the gems for her pieces. Living in the desert, it has had a heavy influence on her work, such as her prickly pear and scorpion designs, and the southwestern turquoise stones that come from the ground. She loves that she can share her home with the world through her work.

Vera Black
@verablack8

Vera Black, named after its founder, is a unique fashion brand for those looking for stylish alternative accessories. For 15 years, Vera was a singer/songwriter and touring musician. She began making accessories to wear on stage in 2010 to complete her stage look, as she couldn’t what she had in mind to represent herself as an artist. Friends and family took an interest in her pieces, and from there, the brand was born. She started making pieces for actors, musicians and styling music videos from which it grew organically from there. Before she knew it, she had a business that was consuming more of her time, and decided to step back from music and focus on her business. In 2012, her husband joined the team, and she began working full time trading at festivals and trading every weekend at Portobello, Brick Lane and eventually her own store in Camden.
In 2020, the store closed due to the pandemic, which went in their favour, and they created enough of an audience for the brand to sustain just online. They went from having a 7 day week shop with huge overheads to working less and making more, because of this they had a lockdown baby after trying to conceive for 10 years, Mr Bobby-Ryder.
